Job Description – FUMC Graham Contemporary Worship Leader (Part-time)


Reports to: Lead Pastor

Accountable to: Staff Parish Relations Committee


Spiritual/ Personal Qualities:

• A person who is creative, adaptable, of high integrity, flexible.


Qualifications:

• Skilled musician and guitarist who can direct the praise team while leading the

congregation in authentic, passionate worship.

• Experience and desire to lead congregation in a wide variety of praise and worship

music.

• Knowledgeable of current emphases/movements in worship.

• Working knowledge of chords and charts needed for all musical instruments and

vocalists.

• Must be supportive of the mission, vision, values, and focus of First United Methodist

Church as well as the doctrinal standards of the United Methodist Church.

• Able to work well with diverse personalities, building and mentoring ministry teams

in a positive manner.

• Excellent organizational and computer skills (worship plans hosted on

www.planningcenteronline.com)

• Is punctual in all meetings, events, and worship and comes to rehearsals and Sunday

worship services well-prepared and ready.

• Leadership experience in praise and worship arts.


Responsibilities:

• Lead worship and praise team each Sunday for The Well service.

• Lead weekly rehearsal of praise team using the working knowledge of chords and

charts.

• Select music in consultation with the pastor.

• Coordinate aspects of weekly worship service around pastor's weekly message and

submit worship plans in a timely manner.

• Work with laity to recruit and use their gifts.

• Create a worship experience that adapts to changing needs of the congregation.

• Meet with Pastor and staff on a regular basis or as needed.


Hours/Salary: 10-15 hours/$16,800
